Jason Di Lizio's Feature Form Hits The Money Hard At The Magic Millions.
Jason Di Lizio arrived back from his overseas holiday's just in time for the Magic Millions last Saturday and what a weekend it was on the website with his Gold Coast racing tips. One month off and he has returned once again in his usual amazing form.
There was a massive response to his feature form offered on the website, covering racing at both the Magic Millions race day on the Gold Coast and at Caulfield and all of Jason's followers were certainly well rewarded. Further below is reprint of last Saturday's feature form and remember it will be on offer once again this Friday evening on the website for this Saturday's racing. So if you missed out last week, do not miss out this week.
You can access Jason Di Lizio's Feature Form always directly on the website here: Feature Form
Jason Di Lizio's Feature Form: Saturday January 10th 2009
GOLD COAST:
Magic Millions race day always brings together top quality horses and this year is no different. Here’s my preview and selections of the feature races on the bumper card.
Race 4: The Magic Millions Sprint is a 1000m scamper and they will not be taking a breather here. Keen Commander is the class runner and put in a bold showing with a big weight on a heavy track last start, this field is tougher and he has to lug the same weight and might be struggling to hold them out the last 50m. Simplest is a talented sprinter that has been freshened up for this, his fresh form isn’t great and he has drawn ideally but he will be hard to beat. Comepsa has finished worse than second twice in 10 starts and they’ve been in good company, he has a good fresh record and looks well in on the minimum. Mfuwe beat a weak field first-up but carried a big weight and did it very convincingly, there will be a lot of pressure on from the beginning but will be advantaged by the inside alley. Grand Rhumba has won his last four on the trot in Canberra and loves this distance but faces a tough task from the wide draw.
Top Selection: 2 Simplest
Main Danger: 1 Keen Commander
Value Runner: 4 Comepsa
Race 5: The Magic Millions Quality is for fillies and mares and is raced over 1300m and is always highly competitive. Insistence was disappointing last start but I am prepared to forgive her here as it looks like there’s not a lot of early speed which will suit her, she has a great record here at her home track and will be tough to run down. Bareena and Satsang can mix their form but on their day they have the ability to blow away a field like this, they will get back and will need luck but will be storming home. Illuminates was freshened up and ran on strong last start, she has won at this track and will be improved for her last run and will be in the finish again here with some luck. Seconde was racing well before running poorly last start, she also has a devastating finish and could add value to the multiples. Fuhrnatic and Espurante looks to have eachway claims but will need plenty of luck if they are to win.
Top Selection: 4 Insistence
Main Danger: 2 Bareena
Value Runner: 5 Satsang
Race 6: The Magic Millions Trophy is raced under set weights plus penalties for 3yos and is over 1400m.
1 Cat D’Antibes: has shown plenty of ability and is racing at home track but has drawn terribly and will need luck
2 Bhutane Dane: quality youngster from top yard comes into this with a great fresh record but has drawn poorly and will be tiring the last 100m
3 Jazz Heart: has shown glimpses of ability but looks up against in this company and from the wide draw
4 Chilled: looks to be level below top quality but will be improved on first-up effort and has drawn well, could add value to multiples
5 Rock Kingdom: from top yard and has been placed perfectly to date, the distance looks ideal and will only need some luck from the wide draw to figure in the finish
6 Silvern: another that looks to be outclassed here, he has only had 1 attempt at longer than 1200m and failed and it doesn’t look good for him here
7 Adnocon: consistent galloper is rarely far away, big question mark at running the trip
8 Feisty Manner: had every chance last start in weaker company and will need lots of luck
9 Black Minx: classy galloper but hasn’t returned in the same form she showed as a 2yo, drawn wide and will need luck but not without a hope
10 High Roll’n Woman: classy galloper but hasn’t returned in the same form she showed as a 2yo, drawn well and will be on the speed and could run a cheeky race
11 Belle Soleil: her last win was in the provincials and that looks to be where she’s best suited
12 Saratoga: has won 1 from 22 and won’t improve that record here
13 Tempest Tost: has been racing in Victoria and is a tough little filly, she is stepping up to 1400m for the first time but looks like she will handle it and will be there in the finish
14 Express Air: was narrowly beaten last start by the very smart Youthful Jack, the distance looks ideal and she’s drawn well, she will be very tough to beat
15 Feline Flyer: leader who has drawn ideally in barrier 1, she beat race favourite Express Air two starts back and poses a genuine threat again here
16 Complete Control: drawn poorly and will struggle in this field
17 Woorim: stepped up in distance last start and won well but might be looking for more ground
18 Little Mel: has been placed carefully in runs to date and is unknown in this company, he looks to have ability and could run into a place if he gets a start
19 Mr Orient: drawn the extreme outside and will struggle to make an impression if he gets a start
20 Miss Monashee: not good enough
21 Zahas Pride: the connections look to be aiming too high for this gelding
A good race here with many of the major fancies drawing wide. Bhutane Dane and Rock Kingdom seem to have a class edge but Tempest Tost, Express Air and Feline Flyer look to be on the way up while Black Minx and High Roll’N Woman are capable and can’t be underestimated. This will be a great contest.
Top Selection: 14 Express Air
Main Danger: 13 Tempest Tost
Value Runner: 5 Rock Kingdom/9 Black Minx
Race 7: The Magic Millions Classic is the feature of the card and is raced over 1200m for 2yos.
1 Shadow Assassin: won the Prelude to this race in good fashion and looks to have plenty of ability, from astute yard but will get a long way back
2 Double Heart: drawn wide, has beaten only fair opposition and is stepping up to 1200m for the first time, place chance at best
3 Carlton Forward: also drawn wide and chased home Paprika last start but will find it tough to turn the tables here
4 Big Tony: speedy customer stepping up to this distance and will be paddling from the 200m mark
5 Fast Lover: has shown glimpses of ability but is still a maiden and destined to be one after tomorrow
6 Phelan Ready: was beaten a long way by Paprika last start and this will be no different
7 Paprika: unbeaten in four starts and this filly looks an outstanding prospect, she’s adaptable and is the one to beat from the good draw
8 Fairchild: looked to be pretty smart before failing badly last start, hard to see her bouncing back here
9 Koblenz: has been narrowly beaten into second in two starts but has easily beaten the rest of the field each time, the wide draw will not help but she’s not the worst
10 Racing Pegasus: has won 2 from 2 and will speed to the lead from the good draw but this is a big class rise here
11 Horizons: has been freshened up for this and looks to be very talented, she’s coming off a barrier trial win and from Waterhouse yard, respect
12 Powerful Light: only had the two starts and battled on well last start behind Paprika, will improve on that run but will need luck from the wide draw, eachway
13 Moonlight Hussey: has chased home Paprika in last two starts but will need to make good use of the barrier if she wishes to turn the tables here, genuine place chance
14 Our Dreaming: rising sharply in distance and class and drawn terribly, not for me
15 Psychics: hasn’t raced beyond 900m yet and is outclassed here
16 Motown Lady: yet to win but has been narrowly beaten is 3 starts to date and all in good company, could be one for the multiples
17 Tariks: had every chance last start in weaker company and failed, no thanks
18 Bella Sirena: will struggle to win if gains a start
19 Southport: not good enough
20 Floral Scent: not a chance
21 Mazzini: should go well in race 3, not here
Paprika looks to be one right out of the box and she will be very difficult to beat. Horizons and Shadow Assassin are both from the Waterhouse stable and command respect while Koblenz and Powerful Light could be the smokies.
Top Selection: 7 Paprika
Main Danger: 1 Shadow Assassin
Value Runner: 9 Koblenz/12 Powerful Light
Race 8: The Magic Millions Cup is an Open Quality raced over 1400m. Mr Slick is a serious race horse and he hasn’t missed a place in 14 starts, he is up in class here and up in distance but that looks suitable and he will give a huge sight from the inside alley. Voice Commander is racing in good form and looks to be the likely leader, he is well weighted and will be very tough run down. Albert The Fat can be excused for his last start failure and if he jumps on terms with them and gets a nice run, he will be there on the line. Black Piranha won the Goldmarket in nice fashion but has drawn wide and will need luck while Light Red and Regal Castanea can mix their form and a win here by either of them would not surprise.
Top Selection: 5 Voice Commander
Main Danger: 7 Mr Slick
Value Runner: 12 Light Red
Race 9: Zero Rock is a high class galloper and looks very well placed here, she has had 3 weeks between runs but that should not be a worry as she has a big class edge over her rivals. Prince Vilhelm has a touch of class and will be competitive from the good draw while Mr Unforgettable ran well first-up behind Rock Kingdom (race 6) and has a good second-up record. Morning Colours has claims despite the big weight and Kirra Lyn may add value to the multiples.
Top Selection: 14 Zero Rock
Main Danger: 6 Mr Unforgettable
Value Runner: 8 Prince Vilhelm
Good luck to all having a punt this weekend and I hope we can clean out those bookmakers.
Happy Punting,
Jason Di Lizio
